Frequently Asked Questions

May I participate in a Sunday School Class, Small Group, athletic team, etc. and not be a church member?

Yes! We want you to get to know us better before you make the big decision of joining the church.

Should I join a Sunday School Class or Small Group before I join the church?

It’s your choice! We will be glad to help you find a group or class. Periodically the pastor will offer a class for new members and those who would like to know more about Christianity and/or Emmanuel Baptist Church. Please call our office at 342-4988 for more information.

Are there different ways to join Emmanuel Baptist Church?

Yes.

1) By confessing your personal faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord and following him in baptism by immersion in water.

2) By requesting a “transfer of your letter” from another Baptist Church. This means that we write to the church where you presently have membership. They will take you from their membership roll, and you will be added to the membership roll of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

3) By statement of your personal faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord and declaration that you have been baptized by immersion in water by some other Christian fellowship.

4) Some people have a vibrant faith in Jesus Christ and have been active in a Christian group that does not practice baptism by immersion in water. These people are asked to be baptized by immersion out of respect for the historical practice of Baptists.

When do I join Emmanuel Baptist Church?

At the close of each Sunday worship service there is a song during which you are invited to walk up to the pastor and declare your decision to join the church. You may wish to speak to one of the ministers ahead of the worship time so they know you are coming and what your decision is. When you come forward you are welcome to say something to the congregation, but it is not a requirement. One of the people of the church will talk with you and write down information necessary for the church to process your membership. The congregation will welcome you.
